Stable

Sleeps 6

3 x Bedrooms

Perfect for Families

Dog Friendly

The heart of Stable is the huge sitting room (39′ x 20′) which used to be the original threshing barn and still retains its full height, showing all the beams as well as some of the old threshing machinery. However, Stable has all the modern comforts too with a 55″ HD Smart TV with access to streaming channels (some require your own subscription), a DVD player and surround sound. With a underfloor heated flagstone floor and a wood burning stove, the room is beautifully warm in winter, whereas in summer the full width bi-fold doors are often left open to incorporate the view over the lake and down the valley to the river Taw. The bi-fold doors lead out onto the large lake side terrace, with a BBQ and table and chairs.

The large kitchen has a great amount of preparation space and a Rangemaster cooker for the perfect self catering experience. The farmhouse kitchen table seats 12 and the sink overlooks the lake.

The bedrooms are all very spacious, and have extra thick mattress beds which can be configured either as twins or as super kings. The master bedroom (first floor) has lovely views over the fields, while the second bedroom (first floor) has lots of old beams and is full of character. The third bedroom is on the ground floor. All the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms.

Detailed Information:

We love to welcome dogs at Eastacott Barton, (and they love it here too) but we do have some rules to ensure that everyone enjoys their stay and we keep the accommodation in five star condition.

We allow a maximum of two dogs in Stable and two dogs in Harebell (4 dogs in total if you rent both properties). Dogs must be housetrained and over the age of one years old.  There is no extra charge for bringing your dog(s).

It is our strong preference that dogs do not sit on the furniture, however we are aware that, if the rules are different at home, this is hard to enforce when away. If you therefore cannot stop your dog from wanting to join you for a cuddle on the sofa, please use the large dog blankets provided to cover the sofas before allowing them up. This helps keep the furniture clean for other guests.

Please do not allow dogs upstairs or on the beds.

Please do not leave dogs alone or unattended in the property unless crated or shut in the utility room. We have a small and medium size crate available to borrow if required.

Stable has a large utility room and there are numerous outside taps/hoses to clean your dog after a wet or muddy walk.

Dogs are not permitted to roam unattended and we ask that you pick up after your dog and dispose of dog waste in our allocated dog bin.

In each property we provide a small dog bed, dog towels, blankets for the furniture, poop bags, dog bowls and spare leads.  We also leave a ‘Welcome Doggy Bag’ with treats.   Please advise us on booking if you are bringing a dog or dogs with you so we can ensure all these items are made available to you

We have a private fishing lake which is for excluisive use of our guests.  It is stocked with coarse fish, including Perch, Tench, Orfe and Grass Carp.

Guests are welcome to fish but must use barbless hooks and return the fish unharmed.

There are good local salmon and sea trout rivers in the Taw, Torridge and Mole, and day tickets can be purchased with beats as close as Umberleigh (about 1 mile away).

There is also sea fishing available in Ilfracombe and Appledore.

Stable and Harebell can be booked together to provide self catering accommodation for up to 12 guests, ideal for larger groups or families. The kitchen and the lounge are large enough to comfortably accommodate 12 people for dining and relaxing together as one group.

From the East – via M5

From Junction 27 of the M5 take A361 to Tiverton and then towards Barnstaple. After approximately 23 miles, turn left at the roundabout to South Molton. Follow the road through South Molton and then turn left on to the B3227 to Torrington. After approx. 5-6 miles, take the left turn marked to Eastacott. Proceed along lane for approximately one and a half miles. DO NOT turn left at the stone cross (signposted to Eastacott) but go straight on, past Narracott Farm and down the hill. The entrance and drive to Eastacott Barton is about ½ mile further on the left.

From the North (Barnstaple) or South and West (Exeter/Crediton)

Take the A377 (Barnstaple to Exeter road) to Umberleigh. (About 9 miles south of Barnstaple). At Umberleigh cross the river Taw over the bridge opposite The Rising Sun Pub. Turn immediately right after crossing the bridge and continue about half a mile. You will pass the small post office, and over a level crossing. Take the first left turn sign posted to Eastacott. Drive through the Brightley Barton farm area, and the entrance to Eastacott Barton is about half a mile further on the right.

As you approach along the drive, fork right by the barns for Stable. Parking is by the walled garden. If you are staying at Harebell, continue along the drive (do not turn right to Stable) passed the walled garden and turn right in between the main house and Stable (small turning) into the courtyard. You will see Harebell in front of you and can park in the courtyard.
