Head for the waves!
North Devon Beaches
Whilst Eastacott Barton is based in the glorious Devon countryside, the dramatic North Devon Coast is only a short drive away, meaning we can offer best of both worlds! With award winning beaches that are perfect for family days out, surfing, dog walks, and so much more, the stunning North Devon Coast is absolutely worth a visit, and there are so many stretches of sand to choose from! Here are some of our favourites…
Saunton Sands
In our opinion, Saunton Sands is one of the most spectacular beaches in the UK. It is blessed with long stretches of golden sand and the most stunning and dramatic dunes. Spanning three miles, Saunton Sands is a surfer’s paradise, with consistent waves that makes the spot ideal for surfers of all experience. There is such an expanse of golden sands that even in the peak of summer it never feels over-crowded. Dogs are also permitted all year long without restriction. The main area by car park has a café, shops and toilets. However, there are some fabulous walks through Braunton Burrows via some of the highest sand dunes in the UK which will bring you out to the more secluded spots further up the beach. Not one to be missed!
Westward Ho!
As a famous and typical English seaside resort, Westward Ho! has so much to offer all year round. With seaside shops, amusements, pubs, plenty of restaurants and a renowned surf school, there is lots to enjoy. Parts of the beach (to the left, towards Northam Burrows) are dog friendly all year round but make sure you check the tide times as the beach disappears at high tide! There is ample parking at Northam Burrows or in the town itself. Dogs are permitted on the whole of the beach from October to April.
Croyde Bay
Putsborough
Putsborough is a great beach for little ones, with plenty of rock pools waiting to be explored, It is on the south side of Woolacombe and further away from the hotels and shops, and doesn’t get quiet as busy as it’s famous neighbour. There is a car park right by the beach and dogs are permitted from October through to April. The walk from Putsborough to Woolacombe and back is lovely!
Woolacombe
Woolacombe is another award-winning beach on the North Devon Coast. Offering three miles of clean and tidy golden sand, this is one of the finest beaches in the West Country. There is plenty of parking, wheelchair access and facilities available to visitors, so access isn’t an issue. And the beach itself is perfect for water sports; with lifeguards on the beach throughout the summer months to keep you safe. Neighbouring Barricane Bay with its famous Sri Lankan curries on the beach is not to be missed. Dogs are permitted between October and April.
